Does Nextech have a public API?

Yes, for the clinical record. Nextech's developer portal publishes FHIR R4 (and older STU3) APIs for its EHR and practice management products, free of charge, behind a connection request form and app screening. Integuru generates a production-ready HTTP API for the scheduling desk at pm.nextech.com, with 15 verified actions for finding and creating patients, reading schedules, booking, rescheduling, cancelling and confirming appointments, and creating tasks.

The FHIR surface answers what is in the chart. A phone agent that has a patient on the line needs to put them on Thursday at 8:15 with the right provider, and that is a practice management write. Integuru performs it as a direct HTTP request against the schedule, authenticated, using the practice's own credentials, with login and any second factor handled for you.

What you can do with the Nextech API

A dermatology front desk spends its day on the phone: new patients, reschedules, cancellations, confirmations, callbacks about refills. An AI phone agent taking over that queue needs each of those as an action.

Find or create the patient

  • patient_search takes a free-text search (name, date of birth, phone, email or account number) and returns internal ids.
  • get_patient_detailed returns one patient_id with upcoming and past appointments (future_appointments and past_appointments, default 10 each), open tasks (tasks_limit, default 10; include_completed_tasks to add Done) and note history (notes_max_pages, default 1, up to 20 fetched in parallel).
  • create_patient requires first_name, last_name, sex and primary_method_of_contact with the matching phone field populated; primary_provider_id defaults to the practice's first provider. update_patient_demographics changes names (50 characters max), dob, gender, phone and address.

Read the schedule

  • read_appointments and read_department_appointments return a start_date through end_date window of up to 31 days. read_appointment_details reads one appointment_id.
  • list_patient_appointments pages one patient's history, newest first, with optional from_date, to_date, resource_ids and status_ids filters. list_providers and get_account_detail supply the practice context.

Change the schedule

  • book_appointment places a patient_id with a resource (provider name as shown on the schedule), an appointment_type, date, start_time and end_time, plus reason for consult types and an optional note.
  • reschedule_appointment moves an appointment_id to a new date and start_time, keeping the duration unless duration_minutes is set, and takes override_reason when the slot is outside template rules.
  • cancel_appointment needs a cancellation_reason from the fixed list, with requested_by (default Office) setting the resulting status and a cancellation_note up to 500 characters. mark_appointment_confirmed flips an appointment_id to Confirmed.

Hand off the follow-ups

  • create_patient_task opens a to-do on a patient_id with body, a notified list of users and groups, an optional category, priority (default Normal), status (default NotStarted), due_date (default today) and reminder_date on or before it.

Who uses this

AI phone and text agents for specialty practices run patient_search, then book_appointment or reschedule_appointment, then mark_appointment_confirmed on the reminder reply, and drop anything they cannot resolve into create_patient_task for staff. Med spa and plastic surgery CRMs create patients from web leads with create_patient and keep demographics current with update_patient_demographics. Operations dashboards read read_department_appointments per location each morning. Practices that run other specialty EHRs pair this page with the Modmed, EyeFinity and Aesthetic Record integrations; the healthcare industry page covers scheduling automation across the stack.

Setup notes

Integuru authenticates against pm.nextech.com with your Nextech practice management user. Patient identifiers are internal numeric ids, not the human-readable Account #; patient_search returns them. Provider resource names and appointment_type names must match the schedule exactly and are resolved to ids at call time, and resource_ids, status_ids and task categories are practice-specific. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD, times are 24-hour HH:MM, and schedule reads are capped at 31 days per call. US phone numbers are normalised; values starting with + pass through unchanged.

Good to know

Before you start

Can I use it today?
Yes. Every action listed above has been verified against live Nextech traffic. Install the CLI or sign in at app.integuru.com, connect your Nextech account, and start calling the endpoints.
What if Nextech changes or breaks?
On Production plans the Integuru team is on call around the clock, with auth auto-healing included, so target-platform changes get fixed by Integuru rather than by your engineers.
What does it cost?
Start on the Free plan at $0/month with 100 API calls/month. Production starts at $499/month with 24/7 on-call maintenance and auth auto-healing.
