Thumbtack API
Integuru generates a production-ready HTTP API for Thumbtack, the local services marketplace, for consumer apps and assistants that find and hire home-service pros. 14 verified actions run on your own customer login: search categories and pros by ZIP, read a pro's details, availability, reviews, photos, FAQs and specialties, pull cost estimates, and list your projects, saved pros and messages.

Don't see the action you need?
The actions above cover the most common Thumbtack integration patterns, but they're not the full picture. Integuru can build additional workflows for any capability the platform exposes. Our Managed Service handles scoping, building, and maintaining custom actions on your behalf, so just let us know what you need.

Does Thumbtack have a public API?
Not a self-serve one. Thumbtack runs an approval-gated Partner Platform at developers.thumbtack.com with a Demand API for marketplaces that send customers to pros and a Pro API for tools that manage a pro's leads and messages; credentials are OAuth 2.0 and issued after Thumbtack approves a Request Access application. Integuru's Thumbtack integration provides 14 verified actions on your own Thumbtack customer login, with no partner approval required.
| | Thumbtack Partner Platform | Integuru for Thumbtack | |---|---|---| | Access | Request Access, approval, OAuth credentials issued by Thumbtack | Your own customer login | | Covers | Demand API for marketplaces; Pro API for lead tools | Search, pro detail, availability, reviews, cost guides, your projects and messages | | Best for | Approved partners with a commercial agreement | Apps and agents acting for a customer today |
What you can do with the Thumbtack API
Find a pro. search_categories matches free text such as plumbing or wedding photography against Thumbtack's taxonomy and returns one fixed ranked list; limit trims it. search_pros takes a query as a consumer would type it and a required 5-digit zip_code, and returns the single ranked page Thumbtack serves, about 10 pros, with count, total and has_more reporting what limit cut. Each result carries a service_pk and category_pk, and those two ids drive everything that follows.
Check the pro out. get_pro_details takes the service_pk, an optional category_pk and zip_code. get_pro_availability returns the booking calendar for a window of up to 92 days (start_date defaults to today, end_date to 30 days later), with intro_type: INSTANT_BOOK to restrict to instant-book dates. list_pro_reviews takes service_pk for the first page and an opaque page_token after that. list_pro_photos, list_pro_faqs and list_pro_specialties all require service_pk, category_pk and a zip_code, because Thumbtack renders the service page against a market; photos paginate by raising limit, since the platform's continuation token is regenerated on every request.
Know the going rate. get_cost_estimate takes a cost-guide path such as /p/house-cleaning-prices (a full URL is normalised) and an optional zip_code, and returns the price range and brackets; include_guide_content adds the full guide article, roughly 20 KB of HTML, which is off by default.
Your account. get_my_profile returns the signed-in customer. list_my_projects reads the IN_PROGRESS (default), FINISHED or TO_DO_V2 tab; limit (1 to 50) is a hard ceiling rather than a page size, because the tab exposes no cursor, and total, count and has_more make any truncation visible. get_home_recommendation takes the content_id of a to-do card from TO_DO_V2 and can fetch the matched pros with include_pros; an empty list is a valid result because Thumbtack's matcher is not deterministic. list_saved_pros pages per section with pagination_token and returns business_pk, which is not a service_pk. list_message_threads pages the inbox with page_token.
Requesting a quote or booking a pro is built on request through the Managed Service.
Who uses this
Home-management assistants built on the AI agents pattern take a job and a ZIP, call search_pros, read get_pro_details, list_pro_reviews and get_pro_availability on the top three, and present a shortlist with a price range from get_cost_estimate, all in one turn and without a headless browser. Property teams described on the real estate page use the same actions to line up cleaners and handymen between tenancies. Consumer apps that connect a customer's Thumbtack account import list_my_projects and list_saved_pros so the home's history of hires comes with the user. The rest of the consumer marketplaces Integuru covers are in the integrations catalogue.
Setup notes
Integuru authenticates against www.thumbtack.com with the customer's own credentials and returns that customer's projects, saved pros and messages, plus the search and pro pages any signed-in customer can view. Every location input is a 5-digit US ZIP. Keep service_pk and category_pk from search_pros together; pass business_pk from list_saved_pros to none of the pro actions. Cursors (page_token, pagination_token) are opaque JSON strings from the previous response and cannot be constructed.

Good to know
Before you start
- Can I use it today?
- Yes. Every action listed above has been verified against live Thumbtack traffic. Install the CLI or sign in at app.integuru.com, connect your Thumbtack account, and start calling the endpoints.
- What if Thumbtack changes or breaks?
- On Production plans the Integuru team is on call around the clock, with auth auto-healing included, so target-platform changes get fixed by Integuru rather than by your engineers.
- What does it cost?
- Start on the Free plan at $0/month with 100 API calls/month. Production starts at $499/month with 24/7 on-call maintenance and auth auto-healing.
