Does Wyzant have a public API?

Only for affiliates. Wyzant offers a search API and a daily tutor data feed to partners in its affiliate programme, keyed by a partner API key and limited to tutor listings for promotional placement; nothing covers a student's own account. Integuru's Wyzant integration provides 8 verified actions over direct HTTP requests, authenticated with your own Wyzant student login, covering tutor search, profiles, first contact, and your lessons, tutors and messages.

What you can do with the Wyzant API

Find a tutor. search_tutors takes a required keyword (a subject, name or phrase), online_only (default true), a zip_code with distance_miles for in-person results, a max_price ceiling in dollars an hour and a sort code. Paging is cumulative: page_number N returns the first (N+1) times page_size tutors, so raise page_number to load more rather than to skip ahead. get_tutor_profile takes the tutor_id from a result and returns the detailed profile unless detailed is false.

Make contact. contact_tutor sends a message of 1 to 5000 characters to a tutor_user_id, with an optional subject_id for the subject it concerns (96 is Calculus).

Your account. student_profile returns the signed-in student. list_my_tutors returns Current and Contacted tutors by default; Interested must be requested alone. list_my_lessons filters by status and a start timestamp in ISO 8601 UTC, up to 100 per page. list_message_threads filters the inbox by keywords, users (counterparty ids) and invitation_state, and get_message_thread pages one thread_id at 50 messages. The account actions use zero-based page_number and page, unlike the cumulative search.

Scheduling a lesson is built on request through the Managed Service.

Who uses this

Assistants built on the AI agents pattern take a subject, a budget and a ZIP code, call search_tutors, read get_tutor_profile on the top results and draft the contact_tutor message for the student to approve, in one turn and without a headless browser. Education apps that already connect Lessonface for instrument and language lessons add Wyzant here for academic tutoring through the same login-based auth model. Employers and schools that offer tutoring as a benefit use list_my_lessons to reconcile sessions against the programme.

Setup notes

Integuru authenticates against www.wyzant.com with the student's own credentials and returns that account's lessons, tutors and messages, plus the tutor search any signed-in student can run. contact_tutor writes to the account, so keep it behind a confirmation. Remember the two paging models: cumulative on search_tutors, zero-based everywhere else.
